Leona Marie (Babcock) Bruce

Leona Marie (Babcock) Bruce, 99, of Janesville, WI passed away peacefully at her home August 2, 2011. She was born in Edgerton, WI on August 16, 1911, the daughter of Leroy and Florence (Wille) Babcock. She was married to James Herbert Bruce for 73 years prior to his death in 2004. Leona worked at Parker Pen Company from 1949 to 1973 in the inspection department. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was a former member of Janesville Chapter # 477 Women of the Moose as well as a Academy of Friendship member. She was a member of the R.S.V.P. Volunteer Program and received an award for 25 years of service in 2010.

Leona is survived by a son, James (Nancy) Bruce of Janesville, a daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Bruce of Lake Nebagamon, WI, grandchildren, Juanita (David) Habeck, Eric (Robin) Bruce and Wanda (Douglas) Keating all of Janesville, Ronald (Cindy) Bruce of Menominee, WI, Wayne Bruce of Beloit, Randy (Laura) Bruce of Arlington, TX, Amanda (Scott) Hren of Ely, MN, sisters, Jeanne (Karl) Thom, Marian Simmons, Vera Schmeling, Hazel Kopke and a brother, Willard Babcock. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-great grandchildren and a special niece, Joyce Gray. In addition to her husband, James and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Bruce, sisters, Florence, Madeline and Violet.

Leona’s family want to thank all of the HospiceCare nurses and CNA’s for their wonderful care of Mom. A very special thank you to Robin Bruce, Vi and Floyd Enke. With your help, Mom was able to fulfill her wish of staying in her home until the end.

Funeral services will be Friday, August, 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville with interment to follow at Bethel Cemetery, Center Township. Rev. Gary S. Shields Sr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www. henkeclarson. com.
